opening files on remote PC ??

hi, i'm trying to open and read a sequential file on a PC in my network. $f1 = fopen("//laptop/homepage/manuals.txt","r"); It works just fine from the command-line (logged in as a user with permissions on the remote PC), but when running the code using Mozilla & Apache, i get this : Warning: fopen(//laptop/homepage/manuals.txt) [function.fopen]: failed to create stream: Permission denied in e:\data\homepage\php\open_remote.php on line 6 unable to open file So how do i set permissions on a remote file/directory when running through a webserver ?? tia, Rob
