Use exec() (see the exec() in the php manual)
echo `` doesn't work on any machine, it seems to be working only on *nix OS

Hello,
I am trying to execute an external application from php, when I try to
do something simple like:
<?php
echo
dir;
?>
nothing happens??? There must be something wrong with my setting. I am
using:
- WIndows XP
- Apache 2
- PHP 4
I am using the php.exe under apache (not as a module) and have my php
directory in "C:\php", yet my test.php resides in "C:\test". I do have
an alias in my httpd.conf file to point to the correct sourse html/php
files.
Can someone help!!
Thanks,
SHAF.
