Usually if you are on Windows you have to put your php.ini in your Windows directory else I
think(never tried) he use some defaults values. Look in the readme.txt where the php.ini should be.
Another possible problem could be that the php.ini cannot open this file because of the rights on
your machine.
You can add a bogus line like
ssssssssssskkkkkkkkkkk
in your php and then when restarting the apache he will faile starting, if not one of the problems
above or a duplicate php.ini.
Verify these first.

New installation of Apache2 and PHP on Win2kAS. PHP works, but I have a
session problem. I get
Warning: session_start() [function.session-start]:
open(/tmp\sess_fe5a76aab87c532a1a91b1142813ad11, O_RDWR) failed: No such
file or directory (2)
So I figue oops, I forgot to change the setting in php.ini. So I check it,
and I did change it.
php.ini shows :
session.save_path = c:\php\session
and c:\php\session does exits. I restarted apache and even the server.
Still get the /tmp error. I searched for duplicate php.ini files, and
nothing, there is just the one that I set up. so what gives?
