Check out the manual, it has this comment under the odbc_num_rows
function:
----------------------
Note: Using odbc_num_rows() to determine the number of rows available
after a SELECT will return -1 with many drivers.
----------------------
At least trying to get num_rows from an Access 95 table, does return
-1. Probably a better way to determine if you do have some result on
your query is something like:
$r=odbc_fetch_row($sql);
if ($r){
you have rows, do something
} else {
you don't have rows, do something else
}
And if you do have rows, you can get them using:
while ($r) {
your data_getting routine of choice;
$r=odbc_fetch_rows($sql); // go to the next row
}
I have found no good way to get the number of rows in an ODBC
connection to Access 95 (and probably any other MS Access), but tou
count the records in the result, which is none too efficient.
Gonzalo.
