At this point, your best bet is to use the ADODB library from John Lim:
http://php.weblogs.com/ADODB
I have tested it with Access on win 98 (Apache+PHP4.02) and on Mysql Linux
server. Works well...
For MSSQL, it seems that you will be better off with an ODBC connection with
the same package.
This being said, if you do not need a database abstraction, why not use the
mssql native connection with the extension from www.php4win.de ?

Subject: hi..
hi alain,
I was wondering how to connect to a SQL Server 7
database.... DSN... ? i don't want to use ODBC
functions... want to use COM...
<?php
$sql = new COM("ADODB.Connection");
$sql->Open("sql_devhome", "devhome", "password");
$jaq = $sql->Execute("SELECT id from php-mssql");
while (!$jaq->EOF) {
echo "$jaq->Fields(0) : $jaq->Fields(1) <BR>";
$jsq->MoveNext();
}
$sql->Close();
?>
Why does this code not work... it gives on some lines
unsupported variant type.. and all...
Do you know how to create a DSN-Less connection in
PHP... either using MS-SQL or Access... any would
do... it would be of great help to me...
(1) Figure out how to do the above, which would solve
my problem of usin DSN...
(2) Tell me how to do DSN-Less connection.... either
Access or MS-SQL, so both are cleared.
thanks.
