php does mostly autoconverts the variable to the needed type.
if somebody still need's to convert the type, use settype()
btw, php does automtically convert integers which would overflow the integer
range into double's
<?
$var = 2147483647;
print "$var - ".gettype($var)."<br>\n";
/* overflows 32 bit integer range */
$var += 1;
print "$var - ".gettype($var)."<br>\n";
?>
