Uninstalling Zend

Hi folks. I think I may be on the verge of insanity ... I simply want to remove Zend from my installation, so have gone back to the original PHP.INI file, i.e. I have no reference to Zend in there. Why, then does a script that calls the phpinfo function still say that it makes use of the Zend scripting engine? Is this expected? I am on Windows 2000, running 4.02 and Apache.
