I've just bought a book on PHP published by WROX which states that PHP4 is capable of handling large web sites that get over one million hits per day. Is this true at this time? Or is it something that PHP4 will be capable of after a few more months? Or is the claim baseless? I'm just getting started with learning PHP. I'd be interested in hearing from anyone who used it in a large project: how many lines of code, how heavy the load on the server, how well PHP worked for them. Also, what style of programming. If someone used PHP for OOP in a medium-to-large project, I'd like to know how well PHP does with OOP. If there's a better forum for asking these questions, please let me know. However, in order to support an online community with hundreds of users, you won't be able to rely on the stability of the ISAPI module at this time. So, you'd have to use the CGI version, which will significantly higher the load on your server. All in all - you'd have to actually see if it does the job for you. I don't think that too many people have done this before (but if someone here has - by all means - say so :) Zeev -- Zeev Suraski <zeev@zend.com> http://www.zend.com/ -- PHP Windows Mailing List (http://www.php.net/) To unsubscribe, e-mail: php-windows-unsubscribe@lists.php.net For additional commands, e-mail: php-windows-help@lists.php.net To contact the list administrators, e-mail: php-list-admin@lists.php.net
