In order to get the oci8 extension working, you should install Oracle Client
8.1.6 on your web server. The oci functions are compiled specifically for the
8.1.6 client. You can use this latest client to connect to any database server
you like, but the client itself needs to be 8i. If you still have troubles
after setting up the 8.1.6 client, let me know and we'll work it out :)
