Problem with PWS 4 and .php3 files

I have been running PHP and Microsoft PWS 4 for a while now without any problems.
But recently I have received a project with some PHP files, all named ..php3 instead of .php. To
make PWS process these files, I added an entry in the Windows Register, .php3 with the value
"C:\Windows\System\php4isapi.dll". The entry is just under my .php entry, which works just
fine.
Before adding the entry, the source of .php3 files was just displayed in the browser, eg. not parsed
(of course).
But after a restart I get a HTTP error 500 - "Internal server error".
Why is this?
