SQL and ROWID

I used to work with Progress. In Progress its possible to retrieve a rowid
from a row. Its a sort of unique number of that row. Can I retrieve
something like that from an SQL row?
If yes, how do I retrieve that rowid and after that how can I select the
same row using that rowid.
