I would like to report this problem with using Sybase magic quotes.
As you may be aware, by default, PHP adds slashes to escape certain
characters. (See Manual)
Sybase and MS SQL Server 7 require '' to escape the ' so PHP has a directive
for Sybase magic quotes.
However, by turning this directive on, the HTTP environ vars stop being
escaped.
(Compare c:\inetpub\wwwroot with c:\\inetpub\\wwwroot with sybase on and
with it off)
echo $HTTP_SERVER_VARS["DOCUMENT_ROOT"]
Can anyone verify if this is a problem or not?
I was going to support different databases with one server, but it seems
that SQL Server will not be compatible with the other databases because of
the use of the Sybase magic quotes directive.
