In the attempt to allow a Linux machine talk to a win98 access db, i started by making a test environment, on a Windows 2000 machine. My connection: PHP Script (http://www.iodbc.org/odbc-phpHOWTO.html) | PHP402, IIS5, Win2000 PC | Openlink Request Broker | MS Access DSN | Access 2000 .MDB file When I run the script, it odbc_connect()'s fine BUT any query fails - the odbc_exec() function ALWAYS gives a warning/error. If I change the DSN is odbc_connect() to a normal MS Access Query, ie, looking at the same database, but without the complexity of using Openlink, my PHP script functions perfectly. Otherwise, the SELECT queries die with: Warning: SQL error: [OpenLink][ODBC][Driver]Driver not capable, SQL state S1C00 in SQLExecDirect in c:\inetpub\wwwroot\phptestbed\Eyede\Admin\tp02182e.php on line 18 and INSERT/DELETE queries warn that: No tuples available at this result index in c:\inetpub\wwwroot\phptestbed\Eyede\Admin\iodbc.php on line 21 If i use the Openlink Benchmarking tool, i can connect to the Openlink DSN **FINE**, and it goes thru, adds some fields, creates and updates 1000 rows, deletes this garbage and reports everything is fine - and fast too. The 'Test Connetion' function in the Openlink DSN Setup (Control Panel -> Adminstrative Tools -> Data Sources ODBC -> System DSNs -> configure...) also works fine. I have set all passwords and usernames to nothing to ensure that is not the cause of the problem. So .... Why does PHP fail? The people at php.net and on Efnet #PHP are clueless ! :( Siggy
