newbie question about libraries..

I'm testing php4 on Win2000... I see in some of the documentation that
for IMAP and LDAP calls to be made I must grab the c files from some place
or another... How does this work on the Win platform? Do the dll's in
the "extensions" folder take care of this? If so, do they need to be in
the path?
