Hello!
I guess I should apply to join the "What Kind of Idiot Uses PHP with IIS
with Oracle on NT?" consortium... but I must! Coding PHP feels much
better then coding ASP, and the code will be moved to a HP-UX machine,
so no ASP! This beside the fact that it feels good. :)
The machine situation is a Windows NT 4 server with IIS 4, and the
server is running an Oracle 8.0.5 database.
PHP3 had no problems connecting to the database, nor had it any problems
connecting to external databases. PHP4, enter the scene. No more
connections. Always the good old "TNS:could not resolve service name".
I've browsed through all the messages in here, and everything point on
one thing - upgrade to Oracle 8.1.6. And this will be a problem... I
need to stay on Oracle 8.0.5 as that will be the situation once the
application is put in production.
I installed the 8.1.6 client separately, but the system is not to fond
of this, and as I am still getting the same error from my attempted
connection (using ora_logon) I belive that the 8.0.5 system is still
being used by PHP.
Anyone? What is the situation with PHP4 and connecting through 8.0.x
clients and even old 7.3.4 clients?
In advance, thank you.
