Hi,
EditPlus2 from ES-Computing is the best text/script/code editor I have ever
worked with. It supports most languages.
You can download auto-completion files and syntax colouring add-ons written
by users for a vast array of languages and file formats, including PHP. It's
just excellent.
Worth 5 times the shareware fee - seriously. I have never looked at another
editor since!

May you truly code in interesting times.
