calling subroutine in VB COM component?

Does anyone know how to call a subroutine in a COM component and get all the
returned values back out of the passed parameters?
I have a COM component written in VB which has this subroutine I need to
call from my PHP script. I'm passing a dozen or so parameters to the
subroutine, which then modifies the value of some of these parameters. I
need to read the new modified values after the subroutine executes.
