Seems like my problem with PHP4 is a combination of things:
with php4's ini file named php.ini and Apache running, when
I call a php3 file, the ThreadWin crashes, with a stackdump
from php4ts.dll
in addition none of the other .dll's, like php_gd.dll will load
they all come up as "invalid library files".
Either PHP4 is clearly an NT only thing, or it just will not
run properly, or maybe the files weren't compiled
quite properly, or lastly it just won't run on my system.
well, it partially runs.. leave the ini file out of it, and I
can get some use of php4, via Apache.
but things like:
1) PHP_SELF provides a script link like http://localhost/php4/php.exe/thefile.php3
(which still appears to work properly, but not a desirable link configuration.)
2) HTTP/1.0 401 Unauthorized is rejected by the Apache server as an "malformed
header" when generated by a PHP file.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
the only reason I was looking to upgrade from php3/PWS to php4/Apache
was the use of 401, and Cookies.
no 401, and the cookies only seem to work if their a session cookie.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
So I'm no better off than I was, and php3 doesn't dork the PHP_SELF links.
Kind Regards
