Help with index.php directory requests

I know it's off topic but there are many Apache users out there. I have a small problem with my apache set up and I don't know how to fix it. When a user requests a directory (that has a index.php or index.html file) if the request is http://host Page not found if request is http://host/ then index page is loaded How do I set apache so that both will work?
