I have had this problem when php can resolve the name to a registered CLSID ( using the registry ) but cant resolve get a pointer to an object instance. It might be because the object your trying to use dosent support the IDispatch interface. ( in which case you need to find and add the type lib to you php.ini ) or it could be that it is a 'local server' COM object and it isnt running ( and didnt 'un-register' itself last time it exited ) Park
