GD Lib & PHP on Win2K

I'm trying to get PHP4 to work with the GD library on a Windows 2000 machine -- can anyone please help me out in what I need to install and where? I've downloaded the pnglib, libjepb and zlib binaries from SourceForge and copied the contents of each archive into the GD library directory -- keeping their original directory structure. I figured there was something more to the installation... I tried a few test scripts and they didn't work -- so I'm pretty sure I am missing something. :P Can someone help me in getting the proper files into place, or what arguments I need to set in a .ini file somewhere? ... or point out the paragraph in the documentation that tells me what to do (that has thus far eluded me)?
