I've been looking at the bugs for the xml extension and was wondering if
anyone would help test the changes.
The patch: http://www.ctindustries.net/libxml/xml_compat.c.diff.txt
is an
attempt to fix the problem with entities. Its still a work in progress (and
yes I know the code can use some cleanup), but if anyone has some complex xml
docs they could test this with it would be appreciated.
There is a piece commented out for the namespace handler. It seems to work (so
feel free to uncomment that block), but there is an issue with the end
namespace handler. I dont see how implementing that handler under libxml
would be possible (without a really nasty hack). That being the case, should
the start handler be implemented in PHP 5 using libxml? And if so, how should
the end namespace handler be dealt with? It could be called directly after
the start namespace handler (which would break BC) or possible when someone
tries to set the end namespace handler, E_WARNING or E_NOTICE could be issued
indicating that the handler is inavlid using libxml and the handler just not
set.
Other than those, the DOCTYPE and xml declaration are going to be a little
difficult to get to work correctly, if possible. The output could be close,
but whitespaces may be ignored here.
