To be absolutely sure what VS2015 requires, I am setting up a new
(Virtualbox) Win 7 Pro x64 machine right now without any previous
VS-versions. This Virtualbox is installing at least 192 important Windows
updates since SP1 at the moment, so it will take a while before I can
report back.
http://dev.modern.ie/tools/vms/windows/ has
prebuilt Virtualboxes as well,
but these are 32-bits. On one of those I installed VS2015 Pro and was
surprised with the outcome: no Winsock2.h became installed anywhere. So,
on 32-bits machines it is unclear what VS2015 requires to compile PHP (and
OpenSSL).
I will be doing an VS2015 Pro install on the Win 7 Pro x64 machine
probably tonight (CEST).
