I've just received a PECL bug (#3868) concerning the crack extension. There seems to be a new cracklib version released on SourceForge (2.8.2) that breaks compiling. Sadly, somone has taken the cracklib's artistic licensed code and released it as GPL. This seems wrong.
Yes, although I do think it's allowed...
Is it acceptable for a PECL extension to support linking against a GPL library? Wouldn't that need to make the extension (and also PHP) licensed under the GPL?
No, this is not acceptable unfortunately. Although I do not know how this applies if you can use the same extension linking against a different (non-GPL) library that provides the same API. But then again, I'm not a lawyer :) Derick -- Derick Rethans http://derickrethans.nl | http://ez.no | http://xdebug.org
