Hi,
I have recently written my first extension to make use of the API
exposed by the GPLv2 licensed ssdeep project
(http://ssdeep.sourceforge.net/). My code is already published
http://www.ohloh.net/p/php_ssdeep with the
Git repo on GitHub:
http://github.com/treffynnon/php_ssdeep
ssdeep is a utility for creating and comparing context triggered
piecewise hashes or "fuzzy hashes", which allows you to look for
similarities between two pieces of information. Rather than being a
hash like MD5 or SHA1 where it either matches or not, ssdeep creates
hashes that can be used to work out a percentage match. This allows
you to search for signatures in files or look for similar documents to
prevent duplications (this is what I am using it for) as a couple of
examples.
Is this something that could be considered for inclusion in PECL?
Thanks,
Simon
