I created a very roundabout way to deal with this bug. It creates an
array of all files in a specified ftp directory that end with ".log"

Create file called ftp_script.txt
Put the following lines into the file
  open <ip or url>
  <username>
  <password>
  dir /logs
  quit

Here's the php file that creates the array:

<?php

  $l_result = shell_exec("ftp
-s:c:\php4.2\skep_stats\ftp_script.txt");
  $array_dir_result = split(chr(13), $l_result);

  $l_count = count($array_dir_result);
  $l_log_count = 0;
  for($i=0;$i<$l_count;$i++) {
    $l_line = $array_dir_result[$i];
    $l_length = strlen($l_line);
    $l_ext = substr($l_line, $l_length-4,4);
    if ($l_ext == ".log") {
      $l_log_file_name = substr($l_line, $l_length-12,12);
      $array_log_file_names[$l_log_count] = $l_log_file_name;
      $l_log_count++;
    }
  }

Hope this helps someone out.

Works sometimes for me.
Here the configurations i tried:

All with PHP 4.1.1

Win 2000 / IIS 6: Works with script ftp_raw2n_list (see the online
dokumentation for this thing).

Win Me / Xitami 2.46: Works fine

Win XP / Xitami 2.46: Works fine

Win XP / Apache : Works fine

Win 2000 / IIS 5 : Nothing works ...

seems to me like being a IIS Problem

try this:

if($list) {
echo "list downloaded!!<br>";
}else{
echo "no list downloaded!!<br>";
}

and you'll see it's not the data.

If I comment the do-part out, it
works everytime, it doesn't hang!
So I guess it's the data that nlist returns, not the command itself.
