Edit report at https://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=80353&edit=1 ID: 80353 Updated by: nikic@php.net Reported by: oliver at erply dot com Summary: Impossible to compile PHP 8 with libmysqlclient. -Status: Open +Status: Closed Type: Bug Package: *Compile Issues Operating System: Centos 7 PHP Version: 8.0.0RC4 -Assigned To: +Assigned To: nikic Block user comment: N Private report: N New Comment: Should be fixed by: https://github.com/php/php-src/commit/34dd032e4e70a33e3e8fa27e38af62f63601b447 I went with the most straightforward way of dropping the library checks completely, as they're pretty disconnected from reality at this point (minimum required version is 5.5, not 4.x). > Our application won't work with the Mysql native driver. Do you have any further information on why that is the case? Previous Comments: ------------------------------------------------------------------------ [2020-11-12 14:01:03] oliver at erply dot com Our application won't work with the Mysql native driver. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ [2020-11-12 13:59:17] oliver at erply dot com The following patch has been added/updated: Patch Name: PHP-8-configure-issue Revision: 1605189557 URL: https://bugs.php.net/patch-display.php?bug=80353&patch=PHP-8-configure-issue&revision=1605189557 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ [2020-11-12 13:57:39] nikic@php.net Out of interest, why are you building against libmysqlclient rather than mysqlnd? ------------------------------------------------------------------------ [2020-11-12 13:54:46] oliver at erply dot com Description: ------------ Starting from MariaDB version 10.2.* libmysqlclient is replaced with libmariadb. However, using the option --with mysqli=/path/to/mysql/config* will fail when compiling the package, because PHP still searches for the old library name. Here is the error message: Checking for mysql_set_server_option in -lmysqlclient... no configure: error: wrong mysql library version or lib not found. Check config.log for more information. This is happening because the mysql_config file has only following options: libs="-L$pkglibdir -lmariadb -lpthread -ldl -lm -lgnutls -lzlib" embedded_libs="-L$pkglibdir -lmysqld -lpthread -lm -lrt -ldl -lcrypt -laio" I think PHP should have an option for configuring it with the new mysql client name. Test script: --------------- ./configure --with-mysqli=/path/to/mysql_config ------------------------------------------------------------------------ -- Edit this bug report at https://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=80353&edit=1
