It was how i was calling the ftp connection string, it now works after
a bit of coding. 

I was storing the connection information in an array, so I put the
connection to strings before connecting and it started to work.

What exactly HAPPENS? Do you get some error? Does it work if you use
the IP address instead?

So I make a php file to grab some updates automatically and run it with
a batch file

fileUpdate.bat
php.exe fileGet.php 

and i get unable to connect to ftp
I am racking my brain as to why it does not work on here but works
great on NT4,ME<= odd and 2K

can you give me either a quick fix or point in the correct direction
