Relax. I'm planning on restoring 2.13 support in 5.3, but we are not
near a release right now, so a bit of experimentation doesn't hurt. We
did discover that modern autoconf versions do a better job at least on
Darwin and it let us remove that Darwin hackery.
Working on a simple check for AC_PRESERVE_HELP_ORDER and if that isn't
available I'll do the old diversions and then finally drop 2.13 in trunk.
