Being serious two and half second would be helpful.
Tony's branch has been discussed and approved. Secondly it is a
perfect valid way to achieve what Jani tried to do with the output
buffer API patch, get it work with 5.3 without affecting a stable
branch. That's not rocket science, that's common sense.
