DB confusion............

Hello :c) Im just getting used to using php (i have done cf on win for the last 4 years)... Now I want to go on linux but im not yet ready so i decited to start by learning php on windows.... I will be building a customer invetory web application form my small biz. Im use to building my db using access and then exporting it to sql server.... What database should i use to create my small app if i want to build it on win and port it to linux. I see myql seem to be the choise of the php comunity on linux but how dose it stand on win? What db should i pick? I started using interbase but it is way to slooooow from the small test i done. I have a simple select from a 10 field db with mabe 15 record max and it is taking 10 millisec, now if i do the same test on access (same query same data) it is taking him 0.6 and that is by using the odbc conection witch is usaly slow (but i dont want to use access for my app :c)....
