probably just
1. cut into actual elements (substr())
2. create unix timestamp from those elements (mktime())
3. use date() function to format

// Subject: [PHP-DB] Formating TimeStamp
//
//
// I am finding it hard to find an answer to a what I assume a
// common question.
// What is the best way of formatting results of a timestamp from MySQL?
//
// Current time stamp appears as:
//
// 20011016192904
//
// Which in translation is Year, Month, Day, Hour, Minute, Seconds
//
// Any suggestions?
//
// Thanks
