If I do an echo $cmbProducts I get a result like "12345" or "Unknown", in
case of "Unknown" it should run the if procedure otherwise not...

How are you getting the info from HTTP_POST_VARS? are you use that
$cmbProducts even has a value? To test for the variable, you probably
are going to need to do something like:
if($HTTP_POST_VARS[cmbProducts] == "Unknown") {
stuff here;
}
