Perhaps you should try adding this line before you make your comparison:
$cmbProducts = chop($cmbProducts);
There may be a newline character at the end of the $cmbProducts variable,
which would cause that comparison to be false. The chop function will
remove the newline (along with all trailing whitespace as well). Check
http://www.php.net/manual/function.chop.php
