It isn't possible. 4000 char is the limit in 8.1.6. Maybe in 8.2 [they
already moved from a 2000 char limit to 4000 in 8.1.6, so i'm not sure if
there is much demand for this]. But according to several Oracle dbas here,
going past the 4000 char limit in a long isn't possible; no
workarounds. :(
