Okay: here's a little summary: an Oracle-long field may contain up to
2GB. And treating it like a normal 'varchar' does not help. It only
inserts up to 4000 characters, I want more than that! Anybody any hints
on this???

Hi,
I installed PHP4.0.1pl2 and Oracle8i, it all works beautifully together.
A customer wants to use PHP4 to interface with their existing Oracle
database. This DB contains some tables that contain a field of
type 'long'.
I tried using the examples on
http://www.php.net/manual/function.ocinewdescriptor.php,
but I get an 'inconsistent datatypes' error when "talking to" a
long-column.
If I change the datatype of the column from 'long' to 'blob', it all
works
like a charm.
Does anybody now how to get more than 4000 characters into an Oracle
long
column???
Replies please to arjan@nob.nl. Thanks!
Arjan
