I've spent the last few days trying to get PHP 4 to use Sybase's CTlib
on FreeBSD to talk to a Sybase ASE running on another computer, and
finally succeeded. I wanted to share with everyone what I had to do.
* Download the FreeBSD version of CTlib from http://linux.sybase.com --
it's in the 11.0.3.3 section, not the more recent 11.9.2.
* Configure Apache with PHP as a static module, as described in the PHP
INSTALL file.
* Modify the Makefiles (a lot of 'em) to so that the libraries are
linked in the following order (this was the part that drove me nuts):
-lct -lcs -lsybtcl -linsck -lcomn -lintl
* make and make install Apache, and it all works fine!
If I knew from which file this list of libraries came, I'd include a
patch. As it is, I hope this is enough information for anyone else who
wants to do what I've done.
