I have had a similar expence with RaQ3 boxes.
Postgress I think is needed so the WebAdmin manger interface can
keep track of what the server configurations are, otherwise I would
have turned it off.
You could look at using Postgress and PHP instead od MySQL.
Postgress is ``better'' then MySQL, but at the time I did not know
how to use Postgress.
I turned telnet on and manually compiled & installed MySQL, Apache
and PHP, did a bit of tuning and set up virtual hosts. Then turned off
telnet and put the machine live. It works really well.
