installation of PHP Lib

Hi I'm trying to install and run PHPLib 7.2c I'm finding the documentation hard to get to grips with. Is there anywhere else that has more in depth configuration/useage documentation? I have already setup my own basic authentication on a small site but now I wish to use the PHPLib on a larger site. I know my browser accepts cookies and the db settings are correct but the default page isn't incrementing the counter. I've tried this with php's built in sessions and with my own and these work. I am currently running PHP4.0.2 apache module on win98 for development but have tried on RH6.1 with same effect. I am now at a loss as to what to try next. Any help is gratefully appreciated M@
