First Let me thank you Graeme Merrall for ur kind reply.
The reason why I am getting above 3000 records is because those are search results quite similar
to other
search engines.
In the mean time I have asked my web hosting company to check for the latest MySQL version, as u
have pointed
out. I have also told them to change some mysql sytem variables.
