Hi,
From what I've seen of your code snipplet, you didn't set any value to the $name variable.
It's probably priting the
variable except that there is nothing in it so it's a correct behaviour ie print a blank.
Try assigning a value to your variable like
$name = "Testing";
Then try to echo() it.
