I've been using PHP-JavaScript with good results, but I don't have a big
database. I think you have to keep in mind who are your clients. You can
have dbgrids and data access with Java, though the download time is greater.
JavaScript allow you simulate dbgrids using tables, but all the data you
have to deal must be on the client side. If your clients are not customers
who come to buy products and will be bored with a long download time, you
can choose Java, else I think you should decide for PHP-JavaScript-DHTML .
Jayme.
