You can do "real time interactivity" with them all. You are essentially bound by your architecture. What i mean by this is that you have decided to do this job via a web server and web browser. This means that you have a stateless environment with a browser based front end. What you can do to manage this is to use Sessions (which work similiar in all three languages) and use some "grid-control" in your web pages. The grid control could be Javascript, ActiveX or a Java Applet. You back end will not determine these. Personally i'd use PHP on the backend with HTML on the front and use Java Applets when you need them. (Maybe passing any large ammounts of data between the server and applet in an XML format). This will mean your application is as changable as possible since your using widly accepted standards.. moving to using things like Handheld PC's and Palm Pilots and maybe WAP wouldnt be much or a problem (you'll probably have to have an alternative to the Java Applets though) Have fun mn Mark Nold markn@enspace.com <mailto:markn@enspace.com> Senior Consultant   Change is inevitable, except from vending machines.
