I solved the core dump problem... Dammit :) I had libraries from a different
Oracle version (8.1.6) lying around, which were put onto the system because
of Apache complaing about not finding them - well they were there (even the
right ones from 8.1.5) but the relevant path wasn't in ld.so.conf
I removed the wrong libs, updated ld.so.conf, rebuilt php (one never
knows :)... and now it works!
Yippieee :) But thanks for the quick answers I received here (on the german
list it took half a day to get no answers ;o))
