I'm no expert and, uh, shit happens ;) but.... The only thing I know of is checking the message headers to see if you might be able to find the real sender. Most of them are smart enough to make sure everything's fake, but there's not a whole lot you can do beyond that, so I generally send a spam report (it only takes 5 seconds) to abuse@ wherever the message was supposedly sent from. For this one, I sent a message to abuse@earthlink.net. It probably won't do a damned thing, but it's worth a shot. You could also, I suppose, trace it through mail server logs; just use the message headers as a guide and start at your mail server and work your way down the list... of course you have to ask the other machine's admins to check the logs for you... eventually you should at least have a record of the originating IP (or the last address you can _prove_ was involved). Then you ask the owners of that machine how come they're allowing spam to be sent from their host.
