hi Julio. Sybase Open Client relies on a "interface file" that gathers basic info for the sybase/mssql servers over the net (ip/host name and ports), in a proprietary file format. I suggest you to download de Sybase ASE v11.0.3.3 documentation to get better hints. this package is compouded by postscript and html docs, but the ps version is more useful. here we use Red(R)at 6.2 and the Open Client are installed on his default dir (/opt/sybase). there is an file called interfaces inside this -- this is the guy. example of interface file: ## SYBASE on zion ## Services: ## query tcp (7100) ## master tcp (7100) SYB_ZION query tcp ether zion 7100 master tcp ether zion 7100 ## end of /opt/sybase/interfaces where zion is the hostname where de DB server is running; SYB_ZION is anstring identifier for that server. you can replace the hostname by its address. hope this could help you, Sidney Amaral On Monday 08 January 2001 20:23, you wrote: > Hi-- > > I just downloaded "Sybase Open Client/C for LINUX," but I'm not having any > luck installing it... > > Does anybody have instructions for installing "Sbase Open Client/C for > LINUX" on RedHat 7/PHP4? > > Thanks! > > Julio Cuz, Jr. > Riverside Community College > jcuz@rccd.cc.ca.us
