In my case, php3_* are completely and silently discarded.. I noticed the
problem because of safe_mode being on when I put it off in <Directory ..>
in my httpd.conf. Then I saw that php3_auto_prepend wouldn't work
either.. (phplib broken), nor any directive related to php3.
My system is glibc-2.0.7.
