I may as well reply here, too, in case there are others wondering the same
thing. :) I've done some preliminary work in this direction--anyone who's
interested can find it at ftp://ftp.netexpress.net/pub/pam/php3_pam.tgz.
All
the basics are there, but I never figured out how to call a PHP function from
within the PHP C source (necessary for conversation support). Once that's in
place, it should work reasonably well.

I remember hearing that the next generation Apache server was going to have
the necessary code that would allow doing this securely. I can hardly wait :)
