This is not true of IMP 2.2. The syntax problems have all been resolved, and
while the ldap search code itself is a mess (which is why we've completely
ripped it in the development version), it works fine with my installation of
php4.

And I can third it. However, I did notice that earlier today BigFoot and
WhoWhere seemed to be having some trouble (with the Netscape Communicator
client, as well as various php scripts); things seem to be fine now. I'm not
sure why people are having problems.
