This touches on another important issue, which I raise in the hope
of a quiet reasoned discussion and not a minor religious war. I was
happy to read about the SWF module, but when I finally located libswf
at http://reality.sgi.com/grafica/flash/, I was
disappointed to find
that it supports only IRIX, Linux, and FreeBSD. Admirable OS flavors
all, but sadly the one I'm using (Solaris 2.X) is not on the list.
This platform-specificity seems likely to be an inescapable reality
when dealing with the numerous external add-on packages for PHP --
will we have any attempt to summarize information about these packages
somewhere, so that they are 1) easier to find, and 2) the reader knows
up front if it applies to her/his platform? Sort of a central clearing
house for the external packages?
Keep up the great work, all -- PHP continues to rock 8^)
